UK Data Service
The UK Data Service is internationally renowned for providing researchers with trusted and flexible research support, training and access to the UK’s largest collection of social, economic and population data.
The Service is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to meet the current and future data needs of researchers, students and teachers from all sectors, including academia, central and local government, charities and foundations, independent research centres, think tanks, and business consultants and the commercial sector.
The UK Data Service collection includes major UK government-sponsored surveys, cross-national surveys, longitudinal studies, UK census data, international aggregate, business data, and qualitative data. With over 23,000 registered users worldwide, the Service forms a crucial part of the UK’s research infrastructure. It enables researchers and policy-makers to extract knowledge and insights from its trusted repository of over 7,000 datasets to support evidence-based decisions that benefit society.

The UK Data Archive is lead organisation of the UK Data Service, working alongside University of Manchester, Cathie Marsh Institute for Social Research (CMI), Jisc, University of Edinburgh (EDINA), University of Southampton and University College London.
