Director of the UK Data Archive to join the British Library Advisory Council

Article dated: 11 December 2007

Professor Schürer, Director of the UK Data Archive, has been asked to become a member of the British Library's Advisory Council.

The Advisory Council was set up in 1975 as part of the advisory mechanism required by The British Library Act. In order to play a significant role at the centre of the UK's knowledge network it is essential that the Library obtains good advice on the broad scope of its operations and policies for future developments. The Council helps to ensure that the British Library's plans are formulated and implemented effectively. The Council usually meets twice a year to debate the Library's strategic thinking and to exchange views and insight into developments in the broader strategic environment within which the Library operates. Sir David Arculus has recently taken over from Professor Sir Brian Follett as Chairman.
