Staff vacancy: Data Centre Facilities Manager, UK Data Archive

The UK Data Archive is seeking to appoint a Data Centre Facilities Manager to work in a critical, complex environment with varied responsibilities that present both technical and operational challenges.

These challenges include maintaining a very high level of security and uptime for critical services. This involves providing comprehensive support to the Data Centre environment and its electrical and mechanical infrastructures – particularly air conditioning, UPS, alarm systems and physical security.

The Data Centre Facilities Manager requires high level technical expertise in order to appreciate business requirements, and ensure that all data centre systems and infrastructure environments are running smoothly and efficiently.

You should have a first degree (or equivalent qualification) in a computing related discipline, or relevant professional qualifications, together with experience of the operational management of computing facilities.

This is a full time, fixed-term contract until September 2018.

The UK Data Archive at the University of Essex is curator of the UK's largest collection of digital data in the social sciences and humanities. It is also a partner in delivering the UK Data Service, an online portal for social science data, documentation and guidance. Both are vital resources for researchers, policymakers, teachers and students around the world. The UK Data Archive is ISO 27001, certified for Information Security Management.
