Vacancy for Finance Assistant (part-time), UK Data Archive

The UK Data Service, the national data service for the social sciences, is seeking to appoint a Finance Assistant to work with the UK Data Archive’s Resource and Management services team.

The post-holder will support the range of financial and departmental activities undertaken by the UK Data Archive as well as undertaking daily operational activities to ensure the department functions efficiently. Duties of the post include processing orders, invoices, expense claims and other finance related claims. The post holder will also be required to maintain departmental procedures relating, for example, to finance and procurement and set up and maintain an asset register for auditing and insurance purposes.

We are looking for a highly motivated person with strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel) and who has recent experience of working within a financial role and with a recognised financial qualification. The post requires someone who has the ability to use their initiative in a role that covers a variety of duties. Candidates should have a flexible approach to duties. While working in a team environment they will be required to work individually, managing their own time and prioritising tasks to enable deadlines to be met.

This is a part-time (22 hours per week), fixed-term position until 30 September 2017. The precise hours of work are to be agreed but must include Monday and Friday.
