Vacancy: Collections Development Officer

The UK Data Archive is seeking to appoint a Collections Development Officer.

The primary responsibility of this post will be to manage and oversee the deposit of research data into the UK Data Service’s ReShare repository, manage and coordinate data deposit reviews and to liaise with ESRC grant applicants and award holders on their data sharing responsibilities towards the ESRC.

The officer will deal with routine and difficult enquiries on data deposit and data sharing from ESRC grant applicants and award holders, including queries about research ethics and data protection, file formats and long-term data preservation. The post holder will act as liaison person with the ESRC to coordinate compliance monitoring for the ESRC research data policy and to be the first port of call for ESRC relating to the contractual responsibilities towards data sharing of award holders.

For this work, the post holder will be expected to have a wide-ranging and robust knowledge of diverse social science data and data use in research; of research ethics and fieldwork procedures, and be highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Professional and internet.

The UK Data Archive is ISO 27001, certified for Information Security Management. Due to the nature of the work in the UK Data Archive applicants who are offered employment will be subject to a vetting procedure before the appointment is confirmed.

This is a fixed-term position until 30 September 2017. Applications are welcomed from anyone wishing to work from 0.75 FTE to full-time. Please state your preferred hours on your application.
